Course Overview

Emergency First Aid is a basic Canadian Red Cross first aid and CPR course focused on essential emergency response skills. It is designed for people who need a shorter first aid course for workplace, home, volunteer, or general preparedness needs.

This course covers how to recognize emergencies, activate emergency medical services, provide basic first aid, perform CPR, use an AED, and respond to common life-threatening situations.

When delivered with the required CPR and AED components, Emergency First Aid may meet Basic First Aid requirements for some Alberta workplaces. Workplace requirements depend on employer policy, role, hazard level, and applicable OHS requirements.

Who This Course Is For

Emergency First Aid is best for people who need basic first aid and CPR training without taking a full two-day Standard First Aid course.

This course is commonly taken by:

  • restaurant, retail, office, and service-industry workers

  • parents and caregivers

  • volunteers

  • coaches and youth leaders

  • students who need a short first aid course

  • anyone who wants basic emergency response training

If your employer, school, or application requires Standard First Aid, Advanced First Aid, BLS, or EMR, this may not be the right course. Check your requirement before registering.
