What you get
A Canadian Red Cross CPR Level A and AED certificate, valid for 3 years. It is the CPR level most fitness, massage, wellness, hospitality and security jobs ask for.
A CPR-A manual and a pocket mask, both yours to keep.
The same course we charge $80 for the rest of the year, taught by the same instructors.
How it works
Register for one of the four nights. There is no payment step.
You get a login from the Canadian Red Cross for the online theory. It takes about 3 hours and you do it at home.
Finish the online part at least 48 hours before your night. That is the one hard rule. If it is not finished by then, your seat is released to the next person on the list and you cannot rebook. There is no extension and no reminder past that point.
Come to 1550 5 St SW, Suite 300 at 7:00 p.m. with your donation. Class runs to about 9:30. Parking on the street is free after 6.
The rules, plainly
You hold one date. No switching to another night, and no switching to a paid date. The online part belongs to this class and does not carry over.
The certificate comes from showing up. There is no certificate for the online part on its own, and if you do not come to the class, you cannot book another free class this November.
A released or missed seat locks the name and the email address. Booking again under a different address does not work.
We run it this way because a free seat that nobody sits in is a seat someone else wanted.
The donation
Bring non-perishable food. A full bag is a fair fee for an $80 course. We take it to the Calgary Food Bank after the last class.
The Food Bank's most needed items are usually canned protein, peanut butter, pasta and sauce, rice, cereal, and baby formula. Anything unopened and in date helps.
Who this course is for
- Anyone whose job asks for CPR-A: fitness, massage, wellness, hospitality, security, retail
- Parents, grandparents and caregivers who want to know what to do
- Anyone who has never taken CPR and wants to start

Common questions
- Is it really free?
- Yes. There is no payment at registration and nothing to pay on the night. Bring a food donation for the Calgary Food Bank. That is the fee.
- What if I can't finish the online part in time?
- Then your seat is released 48 hours before the class and you cannot rebook this November. Start the online part the day your login arrives. It takes about 3 hours and you can do it in pieces.
- Can I switch to a different night?
- No. You hold one date. If you can no longer make it, email us so the seat goes to the next person, and come back for a paid CPR-A date later.
- Does this cover CPR-C or BLS?
- No. CPR-A is adult CPR and AED. Health care and child care roles usually need CPR-C or BLS, which are separate paid courses.
- What counts as a baby, a child or an adult, and which ages does this course cover?
- This course carries CPR-A, which covers adults. The Canadian Red Cross 2025 standards set the age groups this way. A baby is under 1 year old. A child is 1 year old up to the onset of puberty. An adult is anyone from the onset of puberty on. Puberty does not happen on a set birthday, so you judge it on the person in front of you. A 13 year old who has started puberty gets adult CPR, and one who has not is still a child. For an AED, use child pads on a child up to the onset of puberty or under 55 pounds (about 25 kg), and baby pads on a baby if the AED has them. If baby pads are not there, use child or adult pads. If child pads are not there, use adult pads. The Red Cross says adult pads are safe on a child or a baby, so do not wait for the right size. If you are training for a specific person, tell us their age and we will tell you which course fits.
- Can I register on the same day as the course?
- Online registration closes at 11:59 PM the night before an in-person course. If you need training today, call or text 825-883-3582 before class starts. We may be able to fit you in, depending on space and the instructor's approval. It is not guaranteed.
- Online registration is closed. Does that mean the course is full?
- No. Closed online only means the online booking window has ended. A seat may still be open, or open up if someone cancels. Call or text 825-883-3582 to check.
- What if I arrive late?
- Certification needs full attendance and every required skill. Arriving late can mean we cannot certify you that day. If you are running late, call or text as early as you can so we can tell you what is possible.
