Saving what your child practises

What an account is for

The practice tools are free and always work without an account. An account does one thing: it remembers what your child has practised, so it survives a cleared browser and follows them from one device to another.

You can use everything on this site without ever creating one. Nothing is locked behind it.

The account is yours, not your child's

These tools are written for nine to thirteen year olds, and children that age do not get their own login here. You hold the account. Your child taps their picture to pick up where they left off — there is no password for them to remember and no way for them to change anything about the account.

What we hold about you

Four things, and no more:

• Your email address, so you can sign in and get back in if you forget your password.
• Your password, stored scrambled. Nobody at Delta can read it.
• A record that you confirmed you are the child's parent or guardian, and the date.
• Whether you asked for the occasional email about new practice topics. This is off unless you tick it, and you can turn it off at any time.

What we hold about your child

We do not ask for your child's name, and there is nowhere to type one. Each child is a picture from a fixed set of 12 animals, and that is the whole of how we tell them apart.

We do not ask for a date of birth, an age, a school, an address, a phone number or a photo. There is no text box anywhere in the practice tools, so there is nothing for a child to type into.

• Which picture they picked.
• Which practice calls and cards they have done, by our own names for them.
• How well they knew each card last time, and when it should come round again.
• Whether they taught a card to somebody, and roughly who — a grown-up at home, a grandparent, a friend. A category, never a name.
• The date they last used it.

What we never do

We never email your child. We never send them notifications. We never show them anything comparing them to another child, and there is no score, no streak and no leaderboard anywhere in these tools.

We do not put advertising trackers or social media pixels on the pages your child uses, and no analytics we run is tied to an individual child.

The printable emergency card leaves the address lines blank on purpose. Your child writes their address on paper, at home. We never see it.

Where it is kept, and who can see it

The information is stored in Canada. Only you can see your own children's records when you sign in. Other families cannot, and Delta staff do not browse them.

Your email address is handled by our email provider when we send you something. If we ever write to say a record is about to be deleted for going unused, that email names the animal, so you know which one we mean. That is the only thing about your child that ever leaves us, and it is not a name.

Deleting it

One button, and it is gone — not hidden, not anonymised, actually deleted. You can delete one child's record or the whole account, and deleting the account takes every child in it.

If nobody uses a child's record for 24 months, we delete it ourselves. We will email you once, a month before, so it is not a surprise.

Seeing what we hold

Signed in, there is a page that shows everything we hold about you and your children, in plain English. It is a short list, because there is not much to show.
