Basic Life Support (BLS) Recertification
Target Group
Healthcare professionals renewing annual BLS

Industrial medics and standby personnel
Students and professionals with expiring BLS certification
Prerequisites
Current Canadian Red Cross BLS certification. Proof of prior certification required.
Completion
100% attendance and successful demonstration of all BLS skills, including high-quality CPR, AED use, and team communication.
Course Content
Review of current BLS algorithms and updates
High-performance CPR with emphasis on compression quality
Adult, child, and infant resuscitation review
AED operation, pad placement, and safety
Two-rescuer and team-based CPR scenarios
Airway and ventilation review with BVM
Management of choking in adults, children, and infants
Common errors and performance correction
Participant Materials
Digital refresher materials, skills checklists, and performance feedback during scenarios.
Certification
Canadian Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS) Recertification certificate (valid 1 year).
When taken with Airway Management and/or Oxygen Therapy, it will be listed on a separate credential.
When integrated with a responder course, appears on the associated certificate as applicable.
Approximate Course Length
3 hours skills lab (single session).
Traditional/Blended/Online/Hybrid
Traditional, instructor-led skills session. No online component required.
Additional Information: Base locations: Calgary and Leduc. Mobile delivery anywhere in Canada. Private instructor travel available at extra cost. Pair with Airway Management and Oxygen Therapy. Frequently scheduled on Sunday evenings (18:30–21:30) for working professionals. Ideal for dental clinics, hospitals, EMS, and fire personnel maintaining annual certification.
