First Responder training provides structured emergency medical education for roles that require more than standard first aid but do not require AFA or EMR certification. This program is commonly used outside of Alberta’s primary EMS pathway and remains a requirement for select professions and some volunteer fire departments.

Delta Emergency Support Training delivers First Responder programs in Calgary and Leduc, with on-site delivery available across Alberta for organizations that require this certification.

Who It’s For

In Alberta, First Responder certification is not commonly required for fire or EMS pathways. It remains relevant primarily for Athletic Therapists, Physiotherapists, Massage Therapists, and clinics with profession-specific or legacy requirements. Because of this, First Responder courses are most often delivered as private group, clinic-based, or custom sessions rather than open enrollment.

  • Athletic Therapists, Physiotherapists, and Massage Therapists

  • Chiropractors and sports medicine professionals

  • Volunteer Fire Departments that specify First Responder certification

  • Organizations with legacy or profession-specific FR requirements

Note: First Responder is not commonly required in Alberta for fire or EMS career pathways. If you are unsure whether this certification applies to your profession, contact us before registering.
